Scholarships awarded to CHS seniors

            Members of the Cuba High School Class of 2024 received $87,000 in local scholarships during the school’s annual Scholarship Celebration that was held on May 9. More than 50 area organizations presented scholarships.

Council approves use of Hood Park for June bike race

            In April, the Cuba City Council gave approval for a street closure for the Cuban Gravel Crisis bike race, which will be taking place on June 1. During its meeting on May 7, the council also approved a request for participants to camp at Hood Park.

Peace Run stopping in Cuba Tuesday

            The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, history's largest peace torch relay, will be in Cuba on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 14-15. The international team from five different countries is on a four-month journey across the United States and Canada to share a message that peace begins with the individual.

West, Campbell named man and woman of the year

            Rosemary Campbell and Jimmy West were named the Cuba Area Chamber of Commerce’s woman and man of the year during the Chamber’s annual awards dinner held Friday at Recklein Auditorium. Several other awards were also presented and new chamber officers for 2024-25 were announced.

Ministerial Alliance hosts Day of Prayer

            The Cuba Ministerial Alliance (CMA) hosted a prayer service at the Free Will Baptist Church on May 2 in observance of the 73rd Annual National Day of Prayer.
