    ABB has been awarded a contract by Hitachi Rail to provide a traction power supply solution for the Ontario Line subway project in Toronto, Canada. ABB’s Transportation Rail and Infrastructure team will provide the full solution for the power supply architecture including ABB key power distribution components for the Ontario Line to ensure its safe and reliable operation.

    The National Electrical Trade Council (NETCO) is thrilled to unveil a groundbreaking Virtual Reality Training Program set to revolutionize apprenticeship training across Canada. With an investment totaling nearly $4.5 million dollars over the next 4.5 years, the NETCO Virtual is the New Reality Training program will showcase cutting-edge technology and innovation, elevating the learning experience for apprentices. This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy- Union Training and Innovation Program: Innovation in Apprenticeship Stream.

    Cory's journey in the electrical industry began as an electrical apprentice for the family business back in 2003, where he dedicated four years of hard work and dedication. In 2007, he embarked on a new chapter with Nedco in Halifax, where he honed his skills in various roles, including warehouse, counter, inside sales, and outside sales. His commitment and passion for the industry led him to further opportunities, and in 2015, he made the move to Winnipeg, joining Westburne and steadily progressing from an Account Manager to an Area Manager.

    WAGO has recently named Paul Johnson the new Industry Manager for Railroads and Transportation. After serving time in the military, Paul spent 23 years with Norfolk Southern Railway where he eventually became Controls System Engineer overseeing the installation and upgrades to the yard as well as new Process Control Systems.

    Paul comes to WAGO having spent the last three years as VP of Operations for Trainyard Tech, a WAGO partner for many years. Paul is relying on his knowledge of the rail and transportation industry to help move WAGO forward in the industry.  “I have had the unique opportunity to see how this industry solves problems and overcomes challenges,” he says, “and I am excited to promote a product I have enjoyed using since 2005.”
