COLUMBIA — The Missouri 4-H Foundation marks its 75th anniversary this year with plans to highlight impacts from decades of dedication to nurturing young leaders and fostering community development across the state.

Jack Robert Wood, 90, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at his daughters home surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Max and Shirley Patterson (deceased).  Richard and Anita Overstreet have one son, Bryce Patterson (Darla) and son Michael Davies of Wentzville (St. Louis), Mo.   He is survived by his sisters Janet Panhorst (Bob), Foristell (St. Louis) Mo., Joni Rector, (Ron) Moberly, Mo., Joyce Davidson, Macon, Mo. and his brother, Robert Patterson,  Quincy,  IL.  He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Beverly Krusemark 83, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Born on September 9, 1940, in Springfield, Illinois, Beverly was the daughter of Edward and Opal Krusemark.
OBITUARY: Jim Sparks
Jim Sparks 91, of Kirksville, Missouri, formerly of Ewing, Missouri departed this life on Sunday, April 14, 2024. He was the son of Erie P. Sparks and Laura (Davis) Sparks, he was born in Quincy, Illinois on June 8, 1932. Jim was united in marriage to Emma (Claus) Sparks on August 9, 1953.  Emma preceded him in death on October 26, 2021.
OBITUARY: Joseph "Joe" Harold Epperson
Joseph “Joe” Harold Epperson passed away in his home March 29, 2024. He is the son of the late Harold Money Epperson and Stella Lathella (Thurman) Epperson. One sister, E. Beth Fralicx (Ron) of Foristell survives, as does an Aunt Linda (Thurman) Sloan of Macon, and many cousins.

Tigers sweep doubleheader from Lafayette as districts loom
The Kirksville baseball team hosted Lafayette for a pair of games on Saturday, the last scheduled home games of the season. The Tigers handled the Fighting Irish 5-0 in the first game of the doubleheader and then earned the sweep with a 7-2 win in the finale. Kirksville is now 17-10 on the season and has won 10 of its last 13 games with the district tournament set to begin on May 13.
Bulldogs clinch tourney spot with pair of conference sweeps
Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Truman State softball team was in a must-win situation. They had just been swept in a pair of doubleheaders against Lewis and Indianapolis, the top two teams in the GLVC, and had been knocked out of a GLVC Tournament spot with a 9-13 conference record.

The regular season is now over for the softball teams of the GLVC. Some of the top players and teams in the nation made their marks throughout the season.
