McKENZIE (April 16) — Representatives of Aseracare were the featured speakers at the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of McKenzie. Tamara Fuller, Melisha Burns and Chase Manley spoke about the services of the local hospice care provider.

McKenzie Rotary Continues to Grow
McKENZIE (April 9) — On Tuesday, the McKenzie Rotary Club welcomed two new members into the club. Bethel University men’s basketball coach Jeff Britt and paralegal Phoebe Presson were inducted by Club President Jason R. Martin, who explained the significance of Rotary locally and globally.

Solar Event Captivates Country
CARROLL COUNTY (April 8) — On Monday, many in North America stopped mid-day to gaze in wonder at the total solar eclipse, a rare event that won’t be visible again from the contiguous United States until August 23, 2044. Carroll Countians experienced 97.9% coverage of the sun.
Miss McKenzie — Brett Toombs is the 18-year old daughter of Casey and Johnna Toombs. Brett plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and pursue a career as a Child Life Specialist.

Huntingdon Mustangs
HUNTINGDON (March 28) — McKenzie Rebels and the Huntingdon Mustangs were both foregoing Spring Break when they competed on March 28 in Huntingdon.
MURFREESBORO (March 7) — After five months of competitive basketball, the Huntingdon Fillies season came to an end in the quarterfinal round of the TSSAA State Championship for Class 2A. The Huntingdon Fillies (23-5) played their hearts out losing 58-49 against a tough Gibson County Lady Pioneers (30-1) team.
Over the weekend, Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro was the site of some amazing high school girls’ basketball action. Nine of the 32 teams competing for gold were from West Tennessee.
The Huntingdon Fillies punched their ticket to Murfreesboro to play in the State Tournament Class AA quarterfinals with two late-game victorious rallies. Wednesday night the Fillies defeated Cheatham County 67-60 for the Region 6-2AA title. After trailing the Lady Cubs for most of the game, Huntingdon pushed forward in the final minutes to win the region title.

McKenzie (April 11) — Stafford Roditis will continue his sports career at Bethel University — just one block from his home. Roditis committed to Bethel football during a signing ceremony at McKenzie High School on Thursday, April 11.
McKenzie (April 12) — Clarksburg started off the game hot and The Lady Rebels were trailing early.
McKenzie (April 12) — Jake Cassidy started off pitching for the Rebels. Riverside got the first run of the night.

Last week, much to my chagrin, I was not only surprised by the story of Lem Motlow but also by the fact that I have never written about one of Tennessee’s most prolific sons, Jack Daniel. I’m not one to shy away from occasional libations, especially one of the brown spirit nature. So this week, it is a fine time to devote a little ink to the whiskey maker.
